The UNFCCC negotiation process is focused on long-term cooperative action to address climate change. This shared vision requires ambitious mitigation and adaptation action coupled with enhanced financial support to make it possible. It is important for young people to understand the entire Negotiations process
Given the scale of climate change, and the fact that it will affect many areas of life, adaptation also needs to take place on a greater scale. Our economies and societies as a whole need to become more resilient to climate impacts. This will require large-scale efforts, many of which will be orchestrated by governments. Youth are pivotal in this process. Young people are not only victims of climate change. They are also valuable contributors to climate action. They are agents of change, entrepreneurs and innovators. Whether through education, science or technology, young people are scaling up their efforts and using their skills to accelerate climate action.

Message
NDCs are increasingly significant within the landscape of climate finance, and for realization of Paris Climate Agreement. The NDCs are of greatest value within the African context, owing to the extreme climate change exposure and vulnerability the continent faces. As such, the NDCs not only provide an opportunity for the continent to be a leader in NDC finance implementation, but also unearth greater pathways to leveraging the potential of the very youthful African thought leaders in accelerating such implementation. Fully tapping into the continent's youthful population, especially their knowledge and innovation, followed by building and enhancing their capacities in climate finance, will unlock greater opportunities to meeting Africa's set targets. This has been the passion of Africa Research and Impact Network (ARIN)
